Do you lay in bed awake in the middle waiting for sleep to come? Insomnia is a condition that makes you suffer from lack of sleep; you will find yourself up in the midst of the night anxious waiting to sleep. And if you do not get enough sleep it will be difficult for you to concentrate in your class. The following are the tips that can help you overcome the sleep problem.

 

Keep A Steady Schedule

Have a specific routine where you go to bed at a specific time and wake up at a particular time each and every day. It may be difficult during the weekends. It is better to sleep earlier so that you get up early. But if you have trained your body to sleep and wake up at a particular time, it will support your body to adjust to this schedule. When it is time for bed, you will just close your eyes, and you will be able to get your sleep.

 

Create A Sanctuary In Your Room

sfrsMake sure the lights and computer or television is turned off, the temperature should be favorable as it should not be too cold or too hot. It will assist you to get a peaceful environment that will allow you to sleep.

 

 

 

 

Bedtime Ritual

Develop or come up with bedtime ritual that communicates to your brain when it is time to sleep. Switch off the fun machine, brush your teeth, take a bath and adjust your pillows and get to bed. You can come with more rituals that will assist you to know it’s time to sleep.

 

Don’t Read

Reading won’t help you relax at bedtime; it is advisable not to go to bed with a book to read. It will possibly keep you up during the night to late hours as it will keep your mind active if you can’t put the book down.

 

Exercise

Before going to bed do some relaxing activities like yoga. Make sure the task involves deep breathing and muscle stretching.

 

Diet Snackbed

Snacks high in carbohydrates make you fell sleepy. You can eat snacks such as cereal, graham crackers, and pretzels. They can also assist you to warm up which is advantageous when it is cold.

Do not take caffeinated drinks some few hours before going to bed. Caffeine can keep you up till late hours in the night as it is a stimulant. Also, ensure any medication you are taking doesn’t contain caffeine in them.
